When planning the MedWorks program, convenience for employers and patients was an important consideration. Our MedWorks staff is specifically dedicated to your needs, and act as liaisons between you, the employee, treating physicians, claims payors and other appropriate parties.
What sets MedWorks apart from other occupational medicine programs is its long history (opened in 1993) of treating injured employees, comprehensive services custom-designed to fit your needs and physicians with the experience that enables them to successfully balance the needs of the employer and the needs of the employee. To that, add the quality patient care for which Saint Joseph Health System is known.
MedWorks' affiliation with Saint Joseph Health System also allows you, as an employer, access to the Saint Joseph network of services including: Corporate Health Services, Rehabilitation Services, Behavioral Health Services and the Diagnostic Center. In response to your needs, 24-hours a day, seven days a week coverage is available for MedWorks clients.
The emergency room at Saint Joseph -Berea, Saint Joseph East, Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph - Jessamine are available after-hours, weekends and holidays for work-injury treatment and post-accident drug and alcohol screenings. The staff has been trained in these areas, and a system has been developed in which MedWorks receives treatment and work status information on your employees that are treated in the emergency room. This ensures that the level of communication that you receive from MedWorks is continued even if the emergency room is utilized.
As the employer, you are contacted with work status information by the MedWorks office on the day of treatment. Any questions can then be answered by a MedWorks representative or physician.
