Breast Cancer Imaging
Saint Joseph Breast Center has achieved a designation of an American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. By awarding breast centers this status the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound with ultrasound-guided biopsy in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
ACR evaluation determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance procedures.
As of July 2010 only 9 other institutions in Kentucky are Centers of Excellence.
As an American College of Radiology (ACR) Accredited Breast Center of Excellence, we follow the pratice standards and guidelines recommended by the ACR. The ACR position is that "thermography has not been demonstrated to have value as a screening, diagnostic, or adjunctive imaging tool".
