Robert Joseph Farrell, M.D., FACS
Robert Farrell, M.D., FACS is a board certified surgeon with the American Board of Surgery and Fellowship trained Bariatric Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and a fellow with the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Farrell brings a great depth of knowledge and experience to Bardstown Bariatric and General Surgery:
- Doctorate of Medicine - University of Louisville School of Medicine
- Residency training - Department of General Surgery at Saint Louis University
- Fellowship - minimally invasive surgery at Carolinas Medical Center
- Bachelor of Arts - Biology - Magna Cum Laude at Thomas More
Dr. Farrell has developed numerous scientific presentations featured at grand rounds and scientific conferences to include, but not limited to, the following subject matter:
- Childhood obesity
- Acute appendicitis
- Mesenteric ischemia
- Salvage rates of AV grafts
- Emergency tracheostomy
- Management of shock
Dr. Farrell currently volunteers for Surgical Capstone, which instructs fourth year medical students by hands-on-teaching in the cadaver laboratory. Additionally, he volunteers his time with the Covington Catholic Booster Association located in Covington, Kentucky where he can be found re-soding athletic fields to working at charity fundraisers.
Dr. Farrell has received the following awards for his dedication and leadership:
- 2002 - Louisville Cats Scoring Award
- Annual award given to the top scorer for Louisville's Australian Rules of Football team
- 1998 - Special Teams Player of the Year in football, Thomas More College
- 1998 - GTE Academic All-American Football Team, Nominee
- 1997-present - Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society
- 1996-1999 - Presidential Scholarship, Thomas More College
