Opening and Patient transfers

The staff of Saint Joseph London (SJL) transferred patients to the brand new hospital August 19. Both hospitals remained operational as patients were moved one-by-one from the former downtown hospital to the new replacement facility located off I-75 at Exit 38. The entire move took about four hours.

The new hospital opened with 97 inpatients, 129 emergency department visits and 16 outpatient cardiac caths!

	The last patient at the former Saint Joseph London facility was wheeled to an ambulance to be transported to the new hospital. Patients were moved every three minute
	EMS personnel and hospital staff waited for the arrival of patients at the new emergency department at Saint Joseph London. Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Jackson County EMS, Whitley County EMS and Knox County EMS transferred patients from the old location to the new hospital.
