Diagnostic Testing

Saint Joseph Martin offers a full range of diagnostic tests to evaluate your heart and vascular health, and to determine the most appropriate course of treatment for you. We provide comprehensive diagnostic services in a comfortable and convenient community setting.

Saint Joseph Martin is dedicated to the care and comfort of its patients. All of our diagnostic tests are performed in a safe environment and may be performed during a single outpatient visit.

Noninvasive heart and vascular tests performed at Saint Joseph Martin include:

• Carotid Duplex - An ultrasound test that measures blood flow in the carotid arteries. The carotid arteries are located in the neck and supply blood to the brain.
• Echocardiogram (echo) - This test uses sound waves to produce a study of the motion of the heart's valves and chambers. The echo sound waves create an image on a monitor as an ultrasound transducer is passed over the heart.
• Holter Monitor - A machine worn for 1-2 days that shows how the heart responds to the normal activities of daily living.
• ICG Monitor - A noninvasive test to monitor blood flow throughout the body.
• Stress Echocardiography - This test uses ultrasound imaging to show how well the blood flows into the heart muscle during and after exercise.
• Stress Test - Electrical activity of the heart is measured through electrodes that you wear while exercising. This tests measures how well the heart performs during exercise.
• Nuclear Stress Test - Similar to a traditional stress test, a nuclear stress test makes use of a radioactive dye that shows how well the blood flows into the heart muscle at rest and shortly after exercise.
• Nuclear Pharmaceutical Stress Test - Similar to a traditional stress test, this test makes use of an injected medication that shows how well the blood flows into the heart muscle at rest and shortly after exercise.
• Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) - A type of echocardiogram test that uses sound waves to create moving pictures of the heart.

• Venous Doppler - An ultrasound test that measures blood flow through a vessel in the body.

Cardiology Clinic Hours of operation are Tuesday and Thursday 8:30-5:00 and Friday 1:00pm-5:00 pm at Martin Clinic

Outpatient diagnostic Tests will be performed at Saint Joseph Martin on Wednesdays 8:30-5:00 and Friday mornings 8:30-12:00.
