Heart Attack Signs & Symptoms

Women oftentimes present differently than men and their symptoms are often vague. Please note that men or women could have any one of these symptoms or NO symptom at all and still be having a heart attack.  That is why it is essential to understand risk factors.  General signs and symptoms are according to the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services are:

  • Pain or discomfort in the center of the chest
  • Pain or discomfort in other areas such as jaw, neck, back, shoulders, arms, or stomach
  • Shortness of breath
  • Perspiration
  • Nausea
  • Light-headedness
  • Overwhelming fatigue that is not relieved with rest (a common complaint)
